David J. Christie is a leading real estate developer in the Midwest, specializing in build to suit and site development. After completing his education at the University of Kansas, David began his real estate career in 1980s working for the Hank Dickerson Company for three and a half years prior to starting his own development company in the spring of 1984. David traveled for companies such as Lincoln Property Company and Pacific Realty securing apartment development sites in the early 80’s. He also worked as a contract leasing agent for Trammell Crow Company leasing grocery anchored shopping centers. Specializing in retail leasing and development, he proceeded to acquire land through the 80’s and early 90’s with partners. His focus has been retail development and renovation of existing centers, primarily grocery anchored properties. Mr. Christie has completed the development of over $750,000,000.00 in aggregate values including retail, offices, apartments and lot development. His primary focus with Christie Development is securing build to suit and power center opportunities with national and regional retailers including, Home Depot, Target, Kohl’s, Academy Sports, ALDI, Hobby Lobby and many others.
Mr. Christie has served on the board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kansas City; Doulos Ministries, which operates inner city camps for at risk children; and the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation. He has also served on the board of directors for Lawrence Bank and Great American Bank.
David has two grown children, Natalie and Jon David, and he resides in Leawood, KS.
